Wall reveal does not cut the wall

Why would reveal cut the wall when it's a simple square wall but not when its attached to roof and wall (elevation) is in shape of trapeze for example?

Atena,

For a reveal to work it needs a profile with the new form.

This Profile needs to be set to use with Reveal and loaded into the project.

Than (ofcourse) the orientation of the Profile should be correct to cut into the wall.

This all depends on how the Profile is positioned in the profile family.

Hope this clarifies and answers your question.

Hi

It is vertical reveals that I am trying to create.  I get message: Could not create reveal. Failed to cut wall.

When I exit reveal command and hover over that was it shows that reveal is there.  And it seems that it just does not cut the wall.

Please see attached screen shot of profile family that I am using.

Atena,

In your screenshot from the family the Profile Usage is not set to Reveal.

Does changing it to Reveal help?

Atena,

I have tried to create a similar reveal prfile and find no problem in using it vertically.

Atena,

Strange things happen.

After inserting your profile into my model and adding it to the Reveal at first it does not cut anything.

After changing the wallofset to 1 it cuts the wall.

Than changing it back to 0 it still cuts???

Maybe making the profile a litte big bigger (start before wall front and after wall back) like 102 instead of 100.

Does this help?

Hi

I have done what you suggested and it does cut the wall.  But this is the problem I am getting:

Please see attached images.

I have drawn a wall and put reveal in it.

Then I change wall profile and I get error message - Image 2

Click to close that message and what image 3 shows that when I hover mouse over reveal is highlighting and I can see it on plan view but not on elevation?

Any ideas?

I get the same error. However when you extend the reveal profile so it exceeds the wall heigth the reveal cuts again.

There is a very small portion of the reveal profile that stickt out compared to the basepoint

When the profile is 'longer' than the wall there is no longer a problem.
