I very regularly disallow wall joins because I find in many situations it provides more stability in my models.
At the moment I place the wall and then right click on the blue dot to get the menu to select "Disallow Join". To avoid automatic joining I have to place the wall in a temporary location before moving into place.
1. To avoid having to right click to access the disallow option, why isn't there an icon at all times instead of only appearing once the join is disallowed??
2. To avoid temporarily placing the wall before disallowing the join and then moving into place, is there a way to set disallow as the starting condition??

When you draw a wall, there is a join status. Set it to disallow so all your wall will always disallow join.
Thanks @syman2000,
Wow, the things that are right in front of your face and you never see them 🙂
That solves 99% of my problem, I'd still love to see an icon for both allowed and disallowed joins.
I agree...we need icon and the text can be a hit and miss.
I think I know the best solution for this and there’s already a mechanism that frustratingly only exists in one or two commands. While mirroring, if you hold ctrl, the “copy” tick box is ticked and if you release the ctrl button it is unticked.
Why can’t there be a similar mechanism for wall or structure placement i.e. enter the command and prior to each click you can choose to hold ctrl or not to allow or disallow join.
why isn't this function available for me? The allow/disallow function that is. Please let me know.
This option is available while placing the wall.
After placing the wall (ie: it is already placed) you need to select into end grip in plan view >>> right click >> allow/disallow
