visibility symbolic lines using a void

Hello there

I have a question about the visibility of the Symbolic Lines in a family by using a void.

In our company we model facade sandwich wall panels. In a facade with a slanted roof, these wall panels are made longer and cut into an angle by a void in the project. On the construction site, these panels are manually cut by the construction worker. We want to make the outlines of the original panels visible on the construction drawings. For this we use symbolic lines, constraint to the outer reference planes of the wall family.

Example wall panels.png

However, if the panel is clipped by a void, the vertical symbolic lines at the position of the void are invisible.

My experience:

If the symbolic line is completely inside or outside the void, the line is visible.

If the symbolic line is halfway inside the void, the 2d symbolic line is also cut and is no longer visible.

Is there a way to keep the symbolic line visible?

Thanks

@jcjelier

Nest a generic shared family (Panel Uncut) and place it on a subcategory which you can define in the view template. Being shared it will not be cut by the Void

  • The Uncut panel can be either 2D symbolic or a 3D element which you can also show in 3D
