Visibility/Graphics of Linked Models

Trying to make my linked consultant model's objects look transparent, gray, and dashed.

Should be Visibility/Graphics Overrides>Revit Links>Display Settings>Custom>Model Categories Tab.

No luck.  I think the only way I can do this is "by linked view" instead of custom.  and open the consultant's model to change their views.  Halftone works...but not color or line pattern.

Hi

use Workset and then filter to get Graphical result.

1. in the Linked file, create a new workset as " a"

2. and in the main file, create a FILTER to capture " Workset a" and

apply Graphics override...

Note: Without making the file central, and without creating workset, its not possible

to filter out the elements in the linked view..

Thanks for the help.

Strange behavior.  I can't get it to filter without entering into the linked model and creating the new workset.

IE. why can't I just say workset begins with "a" in the filter??? and never have to open the linked model?  Strange Revit thing, or is my logic wrong.

Further analysis.

You can't use "begins with" to identify the Workset in this case.  You must have a Workset in your model with the same name as a workset in the consultant's file, and you must use "Workset Equals" in the Filter for this to work. 

In summary:

1. Linked File must be a "Central File" thus allowing the consultant to create worksets.

2. There must be a workset with the same exact name in the Linked Model and the Hosting Model.

3. The Filter must be set to Workset "equals" the name agreed upon in #2.

4. Then the graphics from the consultant's linked file can be overridden with the Filter.

Hi..

1. one way is to keep the LINKED file in say workset "a"

This is not going to help you filter the elements..

2. What you need to do is open the linked file and create a new workset there and

move all elements in those that workset 'a", only then you can filtered " a"  in the main file..

3. Now if you dont want to change anything in the linked file ( ex workset 1 )  , then you may

create a new workset in main file ( workset 2 ), move new elements in new workset 2 , and use the filter 

( workset 1 ) to filter linked model.
