Viewport showing "Linked View" keeps resetting to show "Host View"

I am working on a rather complicated project with a main Revit 2019 file that has 6 smaller revit files linked into it (sometimes multiple times).  I have created some special viewports in order to show a cleaner version of the floor plan to the client, however the settings I am selecting are often not sticking.  I have set up my preferred view settings in the linked model and in the RVT Link Display Settings I have specified that I want the view to be determined by the linked view and which view I would like it to show.  I have approx. 40 of these views that I have been working on.  The trouble is every time I sync my main model every single viewport I have set up automatically reverts back to showing the "Host View".  I had a similar issue in the past where it turned out that the views I was working with were "Dependent Views" and were therefore reverting back to their old settings but I have triple checked to make sure that that is not the case this time. I have many other cases within this model where I have used custom view or linked view settings and these viewports are working just fine so, I have no idea why this is suddenly happening only to this new series of views.  Any thoughts?

Thank you so much for your help!!

Is this project on a LAN or BIM360?

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

It's LAN.  There are 3-4 different people working in the file at any given time.

*Apologies, I initially said 360 but that was at my old office.  This office only works in the one location.

Does everybody create a new local every time they open the model?

Yes, as far as I know they do.

As this is most likely a procedural issue or possible hardware related, you need to get definitive answers. "As far as I know." is not good enough.

-I don't think you mentioned this--?

Try using a View Template, with the By Linked View settings in it, and apply it to your views.

-Are all of your Linked models on a dedicated Workset? If not, place them on one, and apply to the View Template and Views.
