View Range & View Depth in Reflected Ceiling Plans

Hi all,

Wondering if you can help, I'm trying to replicate a View Range Setup that has been applied in a project file for a reflected ceiling plan, however I  cannot get it to work. And before anyone replies with, why don't you just copy the template using the transfer project standards dialogue box, I'd like to know how it's actually been done in the project to begin with as I have been messing with levels and underlay settings but cannot replicate it in my own project file for some reason.

The issue I'm having is that I cannot get my View Depth to give me the option of selecting the "level above" it only lets me select the level below in my project file.  It must be something simple I'm doing wrong but I can't put my finger on it.

See screenshots below, these are the view range and properties palette from the project that I am trying to replicate.

Any help is much appreciated.

Regards

are you sure the new View template you are trying to make is based on a "Ceiling Plan" Type?  there are 6 different types a VT can be made as, each has different options. The "Floor, Structural, Area plan" option does not allow for the Depth to be set to Level Above.

It sounds like you are in a plan view.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

That is a clear indication that the view is not a ceiling plan or structural plan looking up, but a plan looking down.

Hi there, thanks for your response.

Not to sure what I was doing wrong, so this is how I found the solution. I deleted my 3 existing RCP's, I went into a blank project and sketched a quick model (walls and a ceiling) created a RCP, then a template from that view and imported this into my project and used that as a starting point for my new RCP and it worked fine.
