Using adaptive family to create a pendant light

Hi all,

First time I have ventured into using an adaptive family, as I believe this is the only way to create a pendant light that would be placed on a sloping ceiling BUT have the light cord and shade always hang vertically...

Does anyone have any info on using adaptive families that are not just weird 4 point extrusions ?

Thanks

If you just need to show the cord and the pendant fixture hanging vertically from a sloped ceiling then there is no need for an adaptive family.  A simple work plan based family with Always vertical option checked should work just fine.

Hi - thanks for the quick response - maybe i should clarify that i want the boss on the ceiling to follow ceiling angle (which varies) but always have the cord and light fixture remain vertical...

I can do one or the other in families but not both..!!

Host the Pendant to another Ref. Point that is hosted to the side Work Plane of the Adaptive Point and associate it's Rotation Parameter to a Host Family Rotation Parameter.

That make sense?

Like this?  There is a simple approach that requires neither adaptive nor angle parameter.

Same approach but using adaptive without angle parameter.
