Use old file as template

Hi. I just finished a project in Revit, setting up several line styles, view templates, and other settings to my preference. I want to start a new project using those settings. Is it a good idea to open an old file, delete everything, and use it as a template for a new project? Thanks!

I would not do that. Instead use create new project file and then use the transfer project standard.

As @syman2000 said you might be better off starting from scratch , but I have done it your way in the past, you just have to make sure you have removed / purged all the things you don't want, as you will get fed up of having to remove stuff every time you start a new project. Either way you will probably still have to load stuff in too.

There's no problem with that workflow.

Why not use all that stuff to build a new template and be ready for the next project? You can transfer all that stuff to a blank project file or one of the OOTB templates and save as a nice clean template for future use.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.
