I want to upgrade 3 central files, structure, mep, and arch from 2014 to2017. But keep it a central file. How would one do this?

Assume you will be working on 2017.

- Archive the 2014 files to a different folder.
- Open 2014 files in 2017 and save to new centrals, one by one. Keep the file names so that the links stay intact.
- Close them and re-open to create new local files.

Thanks! Yes, 2017. This may be silly to you, ha!, but just to verify, I am assuming you just double click or drag the file into the 2017 window to upgrade, versus using the open-project then selecting any options such as "detach from central, is that correct?

Make it a habit (more of a bible verse)

"Thou shalt not Double Click to open a Revit File"

Always open Revit first then either/or

  1. drag and drop in Revit
  2. open from application menu
