Underlay Not Displaying

Anonymous
Not applicable

I'm on Revit 2017 and I'm trying to create an underlay on the 2nd Floor so the 1st Floor is visible. My "Range: Base Level" is the 1st Floor and "Range: Top Level" is the 2nd Floor. The Underlay Orientation is Look Down. The View Depth Level is set to Level Below (1st Floor). However, the underlay is not displaying.

I messed with settings and closed Revit and restarted the computer, but nothing works. Help is greatly appreciated since I've had this problem for two days and I honestly don't know what else to do. Please help.

I did not accidentally change the Halftone Brightness to 0 (under Manage > Additional Settings), did you?

No, brightness was at 50. I messed arround with the settings to change pattern and weight and even brightness, but nothing seemed to work. Thanks for the reply though.

Can you post a fullscreen shot of the view including the properties palette?

Hi @Anonymous,

Have you tried displaying your model as wireframe?

And have you any geometry visible (V/G overrides), underlay will display ONLY geometry, and with the same settings as your view (do not display doors and they won't display in the underlay)

What are the Phase and phase filter of the 1st floor plan view versus the 2nd floor plan view?

@FGPerraudin What would I change in the V/G? And my visual style is in Wireframe.

@ToanDN Here are the pictures for the phases

This first photoris the 1st Floor Phasing:                                                                        This second photo is the 2nd Floor Phasing

Just as I expected. If the elements on the first floor are created under Project Completion phase then they don't show in a view of a previous phase. You need to change the second floor to Project Completion phase. Or make sure the stuff in the 1st floor are created in a phase prior or equal to B10 - Superstructure.

Oh, my goodness. Problem solved. It's such a huge relief. You have no idea. Thank you so much, @ToanDN!

Problem is not solved for us.

I am using Revit 2017. Level 1 has Phasing set at Phase Filter - Show Complete Phase - Stage 1-A and Level 2 has Phase Filter - Show Complete Phase - Stage 1-A.

Underlay ranges and orientation are set in accordance with this thread and STILL NO UNDERLAYs ARE DISPLAYING.

This has been an ongoing problem for us with Revit 2016 and 2017 so much so that we are forced to use Wireframe views as a work around.

On the current project we are working on in the office this is not an option because the wireframe is way too complex to use.

Can you help please.

@Anonymous

If your problem is not Phasing then please start a new thread.  Include a screenshot of your View properties with  its underlay settings.
