Unable to free trim component

Hi All.

So another question that I cannot seem to find an answer anywhere on splitting an object. Seems it only applies to walls/faces? I've tried everything and using split or trim doesn't allow me to actually select my component as a valid selection to the split command? I would like to simply cut/trim along the red line shown in attached screenshot then delete that "extra" piece.

You could try model in place and create a Void Extrusion to the required shape and then cut geometry

Is this the corrugated family you posted about yesterday? Model In-Place Void Cut won't work for you. If it was a System Family, such as a Roof, a Model in-Place Void Cut would work.  You need to make that cut in the family itself.

What is it? If it a family then create a face based family with a void cutting the solid host, load it in and place it on that thing to trim it. If it is a system component such as a roof, then edit the footprint or use vertical cut opening tool.

Yes it is the corrugated panel I created with a profile then created a 'generic model' family that uses said profile. So are you saying it is impossible to simply cut/trim any object unless it is specifically cut in the family object itself? That seems to be very strange and very limiting.

Yes, that is what I am saying. Or, you can use the approach @ToanDN suggested.  Create a another Face-Based Family, draw a Void in it and cut the Host geometry in the Family with the Void.  Load that Family into the Project and use it to cut the Corrugated Panel Family in the Project.   You could easily parameterize the Void so that you could size it dynamically in the Project on placement by dragging Shape Handles.  Similar to how Openings function.

You can create it as a sloped glazing and use mullions for the corrugated. That way you can make any shapes you like.

Thank you both for the suggestions! I would love to accept both your suggestions but sadly there is no way to do that. I appreciate the pointers here to go about this.
