Trying to create view filter but cannot in this one file

Hello;

I have a Revit file where I cannot create a view filter based on family name. The problem seems limited to this one file which has duplicate choices for "Family Name". The object I which to capture with the filter resides in a file linked into the problem file.

In the screen shot below you see I can choose from Family Name, Family Name and Family And Type Name when creating the filter:

The filter I am trying to create looks like this:

The filter works in the source file that contains the object and works in a new file with the source file linked into the new one. It does not work in the problem file. Therefore the problem seems to be the multiple choices for "family".

Does anyone know how to fix this without starting from scratch?

Sincerely;

Michelle

Hard to troubleshoot from the hip on this one. Can you post you "problem" file here?

Sorry no. Non-disclosure Agreements prevent that.

I can tell you this file has been updated thru multiple Revit versions for numerous projects for a single client. The content would be very time-consuming to replace.

It also seems that the "Family and Type Name" hasn't been an option for view filters since before Revit 2019...

So, you think the Family and Type Name parameter is the cause of the issue?  Interesting supposition. Frankly, I don't recall that parameter ever being available under Filters, so you may be onto something.  Why don't you open a support case on this via your autodesk.manage.com account portal.

Let us know how it goes.

You have two Family Name parameters.  Maybe you picked the wrong one to drive the filter.

I tried picking all three of them in turn. No joy.

Can you show the list of filters associated with the view?  Order of filters dictate the priority so a higher one can override the one you are trying to get.

Hello;

Just now, I removed all other filters in the view except the one giving me problems. No joy.

Try it in a brand-new view, not a view created from duplicating an existing view.

Just did that. No joy.

Thank you for the suggestion though....

I guess you already performed an Audit on the files involved?

Can you create the filter in the linked file?
