trouble with representation of brick pier

Hi all, Im having trouble with the brick pier and the way its behaving on the floor plan. I want it to show as a solid 350X350 brick pier (as per the second picture) but it keeps changing as per the picture (patio) when I move it into place and I dont know why. I've deleted and placed it again. I've got other piers shown on the plan that are not behaving this way. Very frustrating!

Open the family and change its category to Structural Column.  Architectural columns take on the properties of the walls that they are connected to.

Edit the family and untick Automatic Join.
