Topography not being generated when exporting IFC

I am unable to get the topography within my models to export when exporting to an IFC file format.

I have checked in the IFC options and it is set to export and tried changing the default export name but to no avail.

Any ideas on why this may be happening?

I was able to export your RVT to IFC and then open it intact in IFC Template.   I did notice that your Survey Point and Project Base Point are separated from one another by a great distance. 179 miles.   Revit has a limit of 20 miles. This could be related to your issue.  Close the gap and try Exporting to IFC again.

Please confirm if you use this exporter: https://apps.autodesk.com/RVT/en/Detail/Index?id=6193770166503453647&appLang=en&os=Win64

Als post a screenshot of your export settings.

Thanks for sharing the file and let us know if the recommendation by @barthbradley helped with your issue.

Thank you @barthbradley Smiley Happy

I exported it using the built-in IFC Exporter and I can see the topo when open the IFC in revit.

I only have access through my companies IT to be able to use the in built IFC exporter. Settings export screenshot it is attached.

I don't have any issues with any of the other elements when I have been exporting them to IFC only the topography elements when I bring them into Microstation.

Is there a known issue with Revit version 2018.3.1 is this why you suggest to upgrade?

Con you post a screenshot of the setup (via "Modify Setup")?

...built in exporter worked for me. 2018.  Did you try unclipping and moving Survey Point to the Project Base Point?

I had the same in terms of those options you highlighted and tried changing the default name by adding Topography to the end to see if that might change anything but it didn't.

I have also just tried unclipping and moving the survey point to the project base point as suggested and still the same issue.

I exported using the default settings below.  Didn't have to change a thing.

Ok so it is exporting but onto the IfcSite layer even though the IFC export options have it set to export onto IfcBuildingElementProxy. However, when I then attach it into Microstation it is not appearing?

Hello Sam,

I have review your uploaded Revit File. the actual problem in your Revit file is a Toposurface Phase that you have assign in your model.

Please do following steps:

Select toposurface and in properties panel change

Phase Filter : New Construction

Phase Demolished : None

Then After try to export IFC

After Exporting IFC you can change phase again as per your requirement.

Please see attached Capture Image.

Please accept as a solution if it's work.

Thanks

Hi,

The settings you said to alter are already like this in the file I uploaded so it doesn't make any difference on the export I still just get the topography border at zero level in Microstation and no contours to it.

Thanks,
Sam
