Topo Solids - Missing/Lost Functionality

After being quite excited about the prospect of being able to do more sculpted landscapes using Topo Solids, I/We have found the reality to be that the use case for this is quite limited, but worse than that, some of the fundamental functionality that we rely on in our projects lifecycles has been lost.
The main one is that for topo surfaces, it was relatively easy to take a large general area derived from publicly available point cloud information, and then insert into that a higher fidelity topo surface derived from survey data within the site area or area of focus. We do this on nearly all of our projects, and often need to perform this merge retrospectively once a project gets the green light and a client is prepared to commit to the expenditure of a survey.
The reality we are finding is that our teams are either sticking with Revit 2023, or if they have had to upgrade for any reason, the workflow for the Topo is being pushed back to Revit 2023, to utilize these tools to do what they need, and then they upgrade back into the current version with either a topo surface which is then un-editable, or a topo solid which is back to being harder to work with.
I'm just curious if anyone else is experiencing this, and how they are working around this. I was hopeful in the early days that some of the tools like merge and split would be retro-fitted into the topo solid tools, but as time passes, I'm realizing that isn't necessarily the case, and as Revit 2023, gets closer to falling out of support, it is becoming more concerning..
Welcome any thoughts on this
Thanks in advance
