Text is printing larger than it appears?

After upgrading to 2017, all of my text is printing to (either Adobe PDF, my 24x36 plotter, or smaller printer) a slightly larger size.  (Almost) all of my fonts are Arial, however I am noticing that there is a difference regardless of font.  For example, my Arial 3/32 front is printing not quite at 1/8" - somethign in between.  If text is say, inside of a revision cloud on the screen, it comes out on the PDF/paper overlapping the revision cloud.  I have attempted to print in both vecotr and raster.  No other patterns, line types, etc. appear to be affected.

Sadly I did not try to start printing with 2017 until today (when I need it).

I went through this before and it was corrected. The initial issue was because my overall computer was set to display at 125% and switching to 100% fixed my problem for plots from then on.

Since then, I had a graphic card error (2 cards - would not connect to monitors) and had to re-install the driver -  back to issues with text!!  But I am at 100% display this time so I do not know what to change.

Has anyone investigated other causes like this ? Or other graphic card options to check?

Soooooo, Its back.

An update to some software, windows or apple boot camp has caused the text issue to return in Revit 2019. This is absolutely terrible. If I can not fix this issue today, our business will be transitioning to another software. We have lost thousands of dollars of time to this issue and we are completely tired of autodesk products CONSISTENTLY  NOT WORKING!

Hi @Anonymous

Please contact Autodesk support with case details and a new separate case will be opened for your issue, since this is a necro thread.

Meanwhile can you try to rollback your recent windows updates and see if this helps and use a different PDF printer?

Regards,

It seems this issue has never been fixed. I've been reading though pages of various complaints on this issue and have not seen a fix.

I am researching this since I have the same issue. I PDF'd during my last session in the project and everything was fine. I literally PDF'ed (looked identical to the Revit window) and closed the program and shut down the computer. A few days later I needed to edit 3 words. Therefore I reopened the file for the first time, made the change, and PDFed immediately (does not look like the Revit window). I am using all the EXACT same settings without any changes for printing and Revit. The PDF was fine the last time I opened, however today it shows exactly the same issue as everyone else.

Windows probably updated and enabled your graphics driver. Go back and disable the driver or roll it back. Good Luck

Hi,

The problem seems to occur when you have a second screen plugged in and the
size of the screen/pixels etc.

What works for me is to restart the computer with no second screen plugged
in...my pdfs then plot correctly.

I hope this helps!

FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!!!

FUN FACT! The oversized text is a graphics issue that stems specifically from the monitor display settings.

Change ALL screens to 100% in the Display Settings*. THAT’S IT! Doesn’t make any sense but that’s the answer.

Directions for changing display settings

Right click your Desktop > Display Settings > Scale and Layout: 100%

*Change ALL screens shown in Display Settings, including laptop, monitors, etc.

This issue is marked as solved. Have you tried any of the marked solutions?

If so, and you are still having the issue, I would suggest starting a new thread just for the sake of clarity.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

No patch.. just change your screen graphics. It's an issue with the graphics card

I've only had screen resolution affect printing one time and that was in AutoCAD with an Excel file being inserted as an OLE. I highly doubt that screen graphics settings is the solution here. It may seem to you that it was the thing to do but I think the two are unrelated for most of the users experiencing this.

Can you replicate the issue by changing the setting back?

If this issue happens to you, try out my solution. Then tell me I'm wrong.

Unfortunately, I don't see this ever being an issue for me.

Were you able to recreate the problem by removing your fix?

Morning I have attached two screenshots of the issue i am having.

Firstly when i look at the Project title block in the view all the text fit nicely on the page. When I then PDF the text all go out of the lines as shown in the second photo. Any Tags or text on Elevations / Floor plans also increase in size?

Where do you change text resolution? Currently having this problem with Revit 2017 & Bluebeam.

Let me know if this works, because MANY people are skeptical about this. I currently have Windows 10, so your interface may be different.

1. Go to your desktop and right click > Select Display settings

   >>ALT you could search DISPLAY SETTINGS in your computer

2. Change all monitors to 100% under Scale & Layout

I understand this seems COMPLETELY unrelated, but please try it and let me know what happens

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, this did not work for me. I have Microsoft 10 and I have 3 monitors connected to my laptop. When I disconnected my monitors and just printed to PDF on my laptop there was no issue with the text size. Not sure why it will not work when using my monitors.

I have (3) monitors as well. Please verify you changed all of them 100%, prior to printing.

Yes. Do you know what else it could be?

Be sure to leave them all at 100%. Re PDF the documents and may even need a restart.

Obviously there are always a million variables. This has worked for multiple people, therefore I stopped searching for another answer.
