I am trying to create a new type in the keynotes. I go through the process, click (enter) at the end of the note and the keynote closes.

You can go to the specific location "C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2014\Libraries\US Imperial" and add your required keynote in the "RevitKeynotes_Metric.txt" file and save it. Then open your Revit version and check. Hope it will help you to add your custom keynote in Revit interface.

Thanks & Regards

I am still stumped. Can you provide a step-by-step illustrated process. The book tells me to close out of Revit completely and then open it up in a text editor. How do I open the text editor. Thanks. The book I have is a Sybex textbook and the instructions are on page 600, but the instructional process is completely vague in navigating to the text editor.

They mean an external text editor, a program not related to Revit. If you are on windows this could be something like notepad (notepad.exe).

Most operating system (windows, mac, linux) will have some kind of text editor available.

How and where to find a text editor on your computer will depend on which operating system (version) you will have.

For example on Windows 8 it will be click the start button and then type 'notepad'. In the list of results, click Notepad

After opening the text editor you can open the .txt file by navigating to that file

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Thanks, it's not quite right, but I'll be able to perfect it eventually. Information is crucial when it comes to learning. Thanks again.
