Text editing issue Revit 17

Hi,

I have been having problems with Revit 17 text editing.

When I highlight text to replace it won't start replacing the text until I move my mouse again. Very frustrating!!!!

I realize this is a bug with the new '17 text editing changes, but is anyone actually working on fixing these stupid problems yet?

Regards,

Don't get me wrong, I "fall in love" with Revit now as much as I did with
autocad 25 years ago. It is revolutionary what Revit did adapting to the
way architects do business. They continue to improve, but too slowly, like
autocad, and that may yield chance for other product...

Have you looked at AutoCADs text editor history? It was very slow to develop. It wasn't essential then, either.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

I didn't have text editing with autocad even at autocad8, somewhere late

Not sure if there had been a solution for this or not but I did notice something that just worked:

- when editing text, look at the right side of the ribbon that pops up and click the little down arrow next to 'edit text'.

- make sure the box that says 'show border when editing' is unchecked

This seems to not only remove the border of the text while editing, but also allows you to edit the text without having to have your mouse hovering on the word.

I can confirm that this workaround worked for me in Revit 2021.

bmcnally's workaround works well. I'll be doing this from now on.

Good lord, we have a winner!!!!

This seems to work (so far) in R22 anyway.

It only took 5 years and no help from Autodesk.

One more click.

Like I said before, RV is a click program....click, click, click...

Seriously tho - this has been a problem for what, 5+ years with probably thousands and thousands of complaints about it?  Autodesk couldn't be troubled to make a little statement about it that showed up in a Google search? Man.

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm feeling pretty foolish for not finding that sooner. It's two clicks and saves countless others. Since this is a user forum, you have to wonder why it wasn't figured out much sooner. Personally, I'm kicking myself, not Autodesk.

2024 and I am still having this issue.  I am using Revit 2021 but I have noticed it in multiple versions of Revit I have used ranging from 2020 to 2024.

Has this ever been addressed? I'm working in 2022 and I still have to place my cursor over the text box before it will accept my typing.
The editor is active and text highlighted with focus set on the text and I still have to make sure my mouse is hovered somewhere over the text to work. Seriously why is this still an issue. All other Autodesk products work just fine.
