Hi there,

We have created a new revit template with sheets with text styles etc and want to import the template settings with sheets etc into an existing project - is this possible or do we have to copy the model into the new template project?

Use Transfer project standards to bring settings and system family types (text types are among them) from a Template to your project file.

Use Insert from File > Insert Views from File to import Sheets, drafting views, schedules.

I would try the following :

  • Make a New Project using the Template you want to use in your Project
  • In this New Project I will Insert > using Link Revit  your Project File
  • then, Place the Linked File onto the desired position and then check Bind Link - I will Include Attached Details , Levels and Grids , so to keep them from the original......

I don't know how it will work for big files.....but for smaller seems to be OK.......

and ,don't forget , if you want to preserve dimension, annotation from the original Project in your Views , to set from VGO > Revit Links > Display Settings -By Linked View.......the problem is that you have to do it for every View separately......I'm afraid ,for big files with many Views , it will not be too efficient......
