Symbolic Lines

I have a specialty equipment family, a hood, and I would like to have dashed lines show up on the floor plan so that you can see where hoods occur. My coworker created this family, and I can not get the lines to work properly. If the lines show up in plan, then the entire family appears as a solid object--covering what is below the hood. Thanks much.

Hi, I have tried this. The lines still create a solid rectangle in plan, for some reason. As soon as I draw 1 line, it appears as a solid box on the plan.

You need to select the hood >> on the ribbon click visibility settings >> then uncheck the box for Plan/RCP... Then the symbolic lines you drew will show instead

Yes. His suggestion is a part of the solution. If you reverse engineer the family you can see it, plus the invisible model line added to the geometry in order for the cut plane to cut through it. Without it, you wouldn't see it projected on the floor plan.
