Structural Columns Won't Display the Cut Pattern

Have this structural column family.  The material is set to CMU with an 8x16 surface pattern and concrete cut pattern.  However, the geometry doesn't  display the cut pattern where the column cuts.  The surface patterns wraps the cut surface.

I've attached an RVT with just one of these columns in.

Seems like the issue is that Revit does not see the element as being cut on two ends but rather an object with 6 surfaces.  Is there a setting which tells Revit to show the ends of structural columns cut?

Any insights would be appreciated.

Is it not what you are seeing?  Looks correct to me.

OK I see what's happening.  They are using this to build a masonry pier and their top offset is at 0'-0" so in plan we are actually looking at the top surface of the element and therefore it's displaying the surface pattern.

What's weird though is if you look at it in 3D with a section box, the section box doesn't display the geometry as cut.  Maybe I'm mistaken but I thought when the section box cut geometry, it displayed cut pattern set in the material.

It is cut correctlyby Section box in 3D as well.

Weird!  That's not working on mine.  The side of the section box creates cut pattern but the top doesn't.

It is but your view scale is too small.  Change it to a larger scale such as 1/2" = 1' then you will see it better.

Nevermind.  The size was causing me to misinterpret what I was seeing.  It is working.  I feel a little silly.
