Prior 2023 or 2022 version the only option to export .STL was an addon. It worked quite well then it was built into current Revit versions. However the built in exporter missing an important feature regarding coordinate system. In the plugin there was option to select to export by Shared coordinates but in the built in version there isn't any option regarding export coordinate system.
So if anyone exports STL by the built in exporter the origin will be regarding the shared coordinate system, but the orientation will be Project north (and not true north). So if it used for example As Built condition check agains point cloud after exporting to STL the STL should be transformed by the Project North Angle to align with the original Point Cloud.
