Steel Members not Displaying Properly

I'm having an issue where connected steel beams are not displaying correctly in the model. When I open up my model, the are several steel connections that just display as lines or very simplified (and distinctly incorrect) forms. I've tried changing the detail level, deleting connections, etc. The only thing that fixes the geometry is if I move the columns/beams away and move them back or change the angle of the beams and back (for instance changing them to 1° and back to 0°). Once I've done this, they appear correct until I close and reopen the file, at which point they have reverted back to displaying incorrectly.

Is there something I'm missing? Has anybody else dealt with this issue in the past?
