Split Face Command

Hi there , 
◙ I ask for more information about split faces command as what this command does for instance ? is the selected region getting to be cut at all ( i mean with all thickness of instance ) or just make a separation with little depth ? 
◙  2nd question > this command applies for any face or specific kind of faces ?

As the naming suggests it only splits your face. So there is no depth involved.

It is used quite often with walls and floors.

You can use Split Face on any non-family instance, with the exception of Architectural Columns.

You can split face any system families (walls, floors, roofs, ceilings, etc..) in the project environment.

For loadable/in place families you can split face them in the family editing environment.

If you want to split the geometry, learn to use Parts.  It is far more advanced than Split Face.

Yeah , Create Parts is A fantastic tool for visualization process

Loadable Families (i.e. Windows, Doors, etc.) vs. System Families (i.e. Walls, Floors, etc.).  You cannot use Split Face in Project on Loadable Families. But, there is one Loadable Family that you can use Project Split Face on: Architectural Columns.
