Q: obviously the insert curtain pattern being up side down and not centered. I just don't know how to fix, the pattern is set to "center" in both directions, and the child family is created as shown.

I study this technique from Balkan architect YouTube. Evidently, when having such curved roof the panel frame can only be aligned in one plane, attached.
I wonder if this would be the appropriate method for curved space frame. Perhaps out there people have done it in different ways...

I don't know what that statement means. Pattern based curtain panels and adaptive components can flip direction easily regardless of flat or curved surfaces.
I recommend to look for Jeremy Roh and Marcello Sgambelluri on YouTube if you are into freeform massing and adaptive modeling.
