Snapping to Midpoint not working

Anonymous

I created some 2D drawings, just with lines, and when I try to do the Linear dimension to place a measurement in the Midpoint on the line, however it wont snap to the midpoint. When I use the measure between the two reference commands, the triangle appears and I can snap to it, but when I use the Linear dimension, it will only let me snap to the end point and not to the midpoint. Thin lines are activated, all snaps are turned on and checked, Manage, Snaps, and object Snaps are all checked. I just don't understand why it won't let me snap to a midpoint of a 2D line, or detailed line. Please help!

I am, and that still doesn't show the triangle when I hover over the midpoint, but will snap to the very end and show me 8".

Draw a sketch line and see if it snaps to midpoint of line.

I am in 2D, not sketching 3D, thus I can't create a wall or roof or anything like that. Sorry, I don't mean to be difficult. I understand I can draw a line in the midpoint and snap to that point with the alignment tool, but with that said, When I print these Sheets for construction workers, they are going to wonder why there is a line. We are trying to make it look professional, not with a bunch of lines.

Revit doesn't dimension to the midpoint of lines.

Rob

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

I did this, I used the aligned tool and didn't start at the top left endpoint, but went down a little, went to the "rebar" (pink rectangle), and then continued it to the next line. With this, I was able to do an EQ dimension to make them both Equal.

LMAO!   So much is done by rote without thinking, I actually had to test it!  I even started wondering if my midpoint snap was broken.  HA!

Draw a ref plane, not a line.
