show split segements between curbs

After research and figuring out that i can create curbs by creating a roof as a floor and then a fascia as curbs or even slab edges, I would like to know if there is any other way of showing the line segements between the curbs because using fascias and slab edges as curbs just creates one long curb which is not what curbs look like in real life, probably unlikely but is there any way or tip that i could use to show the line segements between curbs?

Showing split segments , make me think of two automatic possibilities:

  • the most obvious would be using Curtain Walls with only panels as curbs - the problem is to follow the slope of the terrain
  • a more appropriate approach  would be , in my opinion, to use Railings, as this can follow the Toposurface and any other sloped surface. I'll use a Baluster Panel Family without rails or other balusters. I attach the family and some screnshots on this solution:

Honestly, I wouldn't even bother with that LOD.  If you need to calculate and report number of units, use a Calculated Parameter in a Schedule.

If I'm understanding your question correctly, you're looking to show the control joints that result from the curb being poured in sections, right?  If that's the case, then a material with a model pattern set to whatever interval those joints occur is going to be your best bet.

Exactly that's what I'm taking about, only issue is I already tried that idea thinking that that would work so i used vertical model patterns but it for some reason the lines were all broken up.. etc, basically it didn't look like what i was expecting

I've tried that idea as well using balusters but i run into issues if the curb is curved, then it ends up looking weird so I've actually decided to use just the rail as the curb rather than balusters, so i've used a curb profile to create a rail and it works perfectly but again its a rail profile so you can't really do much with the editing so even though it works perfectly it ends up just showing as one long curb rather than showing the separation line between the curbs

Split face where the pattern changed such as from a straight segment to a curve. Then use align or rotate to orient the surface patterns. Use split face again to create radiated pattern where ylu have curves.

WOW! I think I might have just solved the curbs problem in revit, see attached and let me know what you guys think!

Nice job. One suggestion would be to to set Break Pattern at:  to "Never" (under Edit Baluster Placement).

Emanualbee's railing kerbs work a treat! Thank you. However, I have what looks like a graphic fill to what was the railing inboard of the actual kerb which I can't get rid of. In a railing I guess it would serve to hide the stairs below. I need to remove it or align it with the kerb.

I had to offset the kerb (Railing) within the Type to put it under the graphic hiding region in the end, then offset the kerb (Railing) back in the instance parameters by the same amount to get back to where it was. Does not display the joint on the front face in plan but can't have everything.
