Shortcuts with "Ctrl" button wont work

Hello,

Im coming from Rhino3D, where I did adjust most of the commands to shortcuts. Now I have to work with Revit and was happy to see that it also give the possibility to set shortcuts for different commands.
Im running into a couple of problems with it whough.

Not a single "Ctrl+..." command would work. only the ones that are reserved by Revit and I cant imagine that this is normal, as "Ctrl+..." is a pretty common combination for Shortcuts in every other Programm.

A little example. In Rhino I had the line-tool set to "Ctrl+L". In Revit however I can set the shortcut for Lines to "Ctrl+L" but Revit wont do anything. It only plays the typical windows error sound. When I change it to "li" for instance it works like intended.

What Am I missing? Pls dont say I have to learn a complete new set of shortcuts 😕

Thank you for you answer. I know how to set Shortcuts as you descibed with the screenshots. My Problem isn't that I dont know how to set shortcuts, but that the shortcut I set wont work once I press okay. At least the onces containing "Ctrl+..." every other combination of letters will work.

LI is the model line, you can not every where draw it , the sound for wrong place, for example you can not draw model line in Details Item or maybe you use the Two ctrl+L for shortcuts?

I tested Ctrl+L ,that has no problem.

Okay I get what you want to say, but it makes no sense to me. Because you can set multiple Shortcuts for the same command. I had "LI" AND "Ctrl+L" set as shortcut for Model line just to test things out. "Li" works fine and let me draw a line. "Ctrl+L" on the other hand gives the windows sound. So it cant be that it was the wrong place for drawing the line as the "LI" command did work. I also checked and "Ctrl+L" isnt used for any other command.

Okay thank you very much. i think my problem is that it seems I dont understand the differences between the Line types. I treid to draw Detail lines but messed around in the wrong command. But tbh now that I understand better, I think its kind of misleading also.

Why is there the same command multiple times? I did set the shortcut for the Top command but that seems to be an overall command for lines, which i dont understand. Why are there multiple entries with different shortcuts attachable?!. But anyways, I did set it to Detail line now and it works. thx again!
