Hi friends

Is it possible to create Sheet View in Family Editor ? I tried to load Title block but failed. Though it lists Sheet in project browser. If it is not possible then why it lists Sheet in project browser ?

Regards

No, is not possible.

Speculation: I think it might there because it is 'convenient' for the code for some reason (e.g standardisation between the different family templates). It also could be a leftover from earlier Revit code. Sometimes you write code for particular function and then that function does not make it in final code but you still have things in place meant for that function. Also could be that it is there for possible future implementation.

It is used in the family template for one category. The titleblock family template has an entry underneath the sheets

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Hi @sakar_deepak,

Title block can only exist on SHEETS.

If you try to load a title block in a view, it will produce an error.

As a consequence,

When you edit a TITLEBLOC family, you work on a SHEET and not a view.

Only load a new titleblock family when the ACTIVE VIEW is  a sheet.

Just start by using the TITLEBLOCK template in order to produce one,

most other family templates will fail to transform/load as titleblocks,

and load it in a sheet!!

Thanks for the answer.

Actually i have to give details of one table to Contractor on a sheet. It requires creation of views like Plan, Elevation and Section using call out tool for table in project browser to write all dimensions and details.

It can be done for one item, but there are always so many items like table, chairs , shelves etc. in a project model. If  one has to give details of all these items to contractor, one will have to create Plan,Elevation and Section views etc for each item. All together, there will be a long list of views. Which is difficult to manage.

So, i was thinking to create sheet of each item in family editor. This way it is easier to manage.

But, if it is not possible to create sheets in family editor, what is the common practice to show details of such items ?

You might want to look at Assembly for automatic creation of Views foe such items.
