Shaft above topo solid cutting topo solid,

Hi Guys,

Not sure if this has been asked before, how do I solve this?

I have cut my topo solid with a model group void, to create my "building pad". I have a lift shaft above my "building pad" but the shaft dose not go below my "building pad".

when I look in section as attached, I see the shaft cutting my topo solid.

How can I stop the shaft cutting my topo solid?

I also see the shaft cutting my topo solid in 3D and 2D plans.

Thanks

Myles

Another point, it is not all the shafts in the project, only shafts that drop below the existing topo solid.

If a shaft touching a toposolid (including tge part cut away by the void), then it will cut through the toposolid.   You just need to make sure the bottom of the shaft is completely above the toposolid.  Another way is to let it cut, then fill another toposolid at the bottom of the hole.

Sounds like the Shaft is intersecting the Toposolid. The Shaft couldn't cut Toposolid if it didn't intersect with it. Why not nix the Shaft and cut the Floor another way? Or NOT cut the Floor? Instead of cutting it, create the opening in sketch mode.

@barthbradley that is what I am thinking of doing.

I also have an issue with the wall display and the edge of my model group void.

Thanks

Correct.  Shafts cut toposolids, even if they only "nick" the surface, similar to the behavior with floors.  In my opinion, this is undesirable behavior.   A shaft should only cut a toposolid to the extent that their volumes overlap.

@ellison I thought I was going crazy thinking that Revit should naturally do this!! or at least have an option to allow the cut to the elements.

Thanks

Is there a way to tell the shafts to cut through case work?

I have a corner base cabinet and a shaft behind - see the screen shot.

I find it weird that the shaft will cut the topo solid and other elements but not the cabinetry.
