Setting top and bottom of wall

The option to set the wall "height" or "depth" is not adjustable and is locked in the depth setting. This is not allowing me to use the wall tool effectively. 

I found a workaround by going into 3D and setting the level to the main level, drawing a wall, and slowly changing the settings to get the basement walls from floor to ceiling. However, the next time I use the wall tool or create similar, it's reset to errors again and tries to draw from the basement floor to -12'-0". Why?? 

Is there a way to change this always to be set to height? Like most designers, I do not draw top down but bottom up.

Is the vertical distance between Basement Plan Level and Basement Plate Level greater than 12'-0"?

Look on the Options Bar when you activate the Wall Command.  See Height/Depth?  Pick "Height".  

FWIW: Structural Walls are typically set to "Depth" by default.

Thank you for the reply. No, it is not more than 12' tall. I found the "revitized" setting...

If the wall type function is set to "Foundation", then you can not adjust the depth/height setting. This will need to be set to the exterior or retaining. Then, it will allow us to use the wall height setting from down to up. I feel this may be a bug that needs to be addressed.

Yeah, this setting is locked. That was the first thing I tried. I found a setting that unlocked this setting in the wall-type function tool. It looks like the Foundation function will only allow top-down wall creation /boggle

Ah! So, you were placing Foundation Walls! Got it! BTW, It's not a "boggle" or a "bug". It's been that why since Moses wore shorts. 😉

That's the primary aim of the Foundation Wall at it can be placed using the Select Wall Tool when drawing the wall and goes down to the foundation bottom level with an offset or setting or to a lower level.
