Selection Window (click and drag to select multiple inside of or crossing)

Revit LT 2017

When I try to select multiple items by click and drag rectangle, an example being some furniture on a floor, the floor is selected and moved instead of being able to make the selection rectangle for the furniture. 

The only workaround that I have found so far is to pin the floor and then set the toggle for whether or not a pinned object can be selected. 

I'll keep sifting through options and will post any other solution that I can find, but any help with this would, of course, be appreciated.

Make sure Click and Drag is turned off.

When you make a selection you can use the Filter.

So you can deselect the categories you don't want to select.
