Selection into view filter

I have made a selection set.

I have isolated this selection in my view.

I have placed this selection set in vg filters and checked it.

At the moment if I add new items to the model in other views, they show in the Isolated selection view.

Say this selection set is for windows. I want those windows to be the only thing showing no matter what I may add to the file in other views. How do I manage this?

If you are adding elements to project that are to be controlled by a Selection Filter, you need to add each one of them to the Selection Filter manually. It isn't automatic. Rule-Based Filters are.

Are you doing a window legend?

yes,

but this is crazy, I can't set a filter that omits new objects unless it's rule based...

That is normal.  Rule based filters work because you can set the rules to Not Equal To.  Selection filters do not have that capability.  Make a rule based filter to isolate something(s) is simple and should even be easier than making a selection filter.

What you are wishing, sounds like the properties of an assembly. In assembly views, the only elements visible are the elements of that assembly !

Hi

Try to use some parameter to filter elements out..

Heres an example for.

Wall - Comments - show

Windows - Comments - show

Filter - Elements without Comments show - and hide .

That was the reason I asked if he is doing window legend.  I had suggested Assembly and Assembly views for Curtain wall legend in the past but he wasn't too fond of it 😉
