Scope boxes visibility definition

Hello everyone!

Is the scope box visibility (in my case floor plans) controlled by "(...)where they intersect the view cut plane." , or where they intersect the associated level of the Floor plan view

I have a floor plan view where my scope box is extended bellow the cut plane, but is still displaying. It just disappears when the upper limit of the scope box is below the associated lvl.

I know that I can override their visibility in different ways, but I just want to be sure about how it works by default.

Thank you.

Hello! From my understanding of the scope box behavior, yes your correct it seems to be the associated level and not the cut plane that determines its visibility. Interestingly even editing the bottom range of the cut plane to be above the upper extent of the scope box it is still visible. So you may have to use visibility overrides instead. Hope this makes sense and is of some use!ScopeboxVisibility.PNG

@Anonymous thank you for your input.

Even if the view depth level is set below the scope box (more view depth), you cannot see the representation of that scope box on the floor plan view.

It really seems that what influences the scope box representation on the floor plan views is the intersection with the associated floor plan level and not the view cut plane. I don't know why in Revit is explained differently. Maybe is my wrong interpretation of that statement? I would be interested to know any opinion from some power users of this forum on that matter.  🙂

@JF.K Yes, all your screen grabs show pretty much what it would appear both our experiences show! the view depth and cut plane seem to have no effect on the visibility of the scope box.. only the associated level. Its obviously not a massive issue as there are other ways to deal with visibility, but an interesting observation nonetheless i would be interested to find out why this is?
