I am working in AutoCad and i use whipeouts for drawing windows and doors. But when i want to import the drawing into Revit, the whipeouts ar not recognised by Revit (see attachements). How can i resolve this problem?

Wipeouts are not recognized by Revit. You will have to find another way to get what you want in AutoCAD.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Build everything in Revit and forget everything you knew about Autocad....they are completely different programs.

The first time I heard that I had about ten years of AutoCAD experience under my belt. It was and would still be impossible for me to forget all that knowledge. Like I even have a choice of what to forget. In fact, in the early days, a lot of what I had learned about AutoCAD translated over to Revit quite well and it helped me help a lot of people. A lot of that experience also proved to be a stumbling block, so I get the reason why people say it. I've heard it so many times through the years that I've lost track. For me it is the worst advice ever. AutoCAD is still the go to choice for 2D drafting. I'm working with someone that is not very far out of high school who is really good at Revit but prefers AutoCAD for 2D.

Just sayin'.

Alright.....Ignore everything you know about Autocad.

It's already a pain that you try using Autocad commands in Revit after switching over for a project and vice versa when transitioning again.  The statement is more, don't try to compare the two.  But all my details are done in Revit if the project is in Revit....Autocad if done in Autocad.  I don't mix the two if I can help it.

Sometimes I still try to use Archicad commands. Smiley Frustrated

@RobDraw Would you use wipeout to create windows in AutoCAD? It might be clever to cover lines in the AutoCAD environment that way but, as they are finding out, it doesn't work when translated into Revit...or other software, if they tried to I imagine.

If you're using the DWG as an underlay to create a Revit model now, try using wireframe to see through the Revit walls or the Foreground option (use Current View Only option) for the DWG itself. That might help to see the window better.

As for the advice to forget... it's just a reminder to not expect a different product to work the same as this one, nothing more sinister. Remember all you want, it won't make Revit work differently.

Hi

If you are ready for a little  workaround .... ( should be worth it )

Create two separate CAD files ..

First with Drawings, second with wipeouts ( but convert all of them to solid hatch )

Link those two files in Revit... and achive the result you are looking for..

( overlapping 1 and 2 )

or

( Overlapping 1, 2 and 2 ) explained below..for various results in Revit...

CAD Wipeout LinkedCAD Wipeout Linked
