If I make subdivisions in the face of a wall or a floor using Split face, and I apply different materials or hatch patterns to each of these subdivisions representing finishes, how do I show the areas of these finishes in a schedule?

How are you applying the finish? With Paint? Id so make sure that every
material you use has a consistent prefix (I use FINISH) also make sure that
on the Identity tab of the material you give it a DESCRIPTION matching what
you want it to read. Then create a finish schedule add Material:Name,
Material:Description and Material: Area

Filter it using Material:Name and "Begins with" use the prefix you gave each
of your materials. sort/group etc to get the areas listed like you want.

Excellent. I just tested it and it works. As I add more subareas of the same finish, the material takeoff schedule keeps my areas of finishes updated, and the description or the comments field could be used to add specific information related to the location of this finish in the project. Beautiful! Thanks, Lance, and thanks to Paul as well.
