line weight of fill patterns too heavy

I'm having a problem with fill patterns. The line weight of fill patterns are too heavy, and the printouts look too dark.

I'm using fill patterns for hatching to indicate existing building elements. I tried changing the color to gray, but then it doesn't print/plot every line and didn't work. Is there a way to make fill pattern line weight lighter/thinner??

(Attached images are PDF screen shots. The actual paper printouts look similar).

Revit uses pen1 for all patterns. You can screen your patterns individually. Or, you can set pen1 to a finer pen size but if you do that, you will probably want to adjust your object styles bumping up all settings by one pen then adjusting your pen settings ... in essence, pen2 is now pen1 settings, pen 3 is pen2 settings ...etc.
