Schedule not allowing shared parameters?

I have a schedule that ought to be talking to a tag. It doesn't since I cannot add a Shared Parameter. It's just this particular schedule that does not allow me to add a Shared Parameter - all of the other schedules in our Template are gentle, friendly, and obedient.

Jokes apart - I have a Schedule created with occupancy information from Code. This in turn drives another schedule that assigns occupancy type to rooms and reports and calculates values of rooms - occupancy, net and gross area, etc. I would like to connect a tag to this by means of a shared parameter, but Schedule #1 will not accept Shared Parameters. All the parameters in this schedule are Project parameters. The Field for 'FUNCTION OF SPACE' is a Key Name - I fear that this is one of the dreaded Key Schedules. Even if I try to hook in a parameter that will talk to Schedule #2, since some of the fields are Project Parameter driven, it won't work. Both Schedules are attached as well as the tag I am trying to get to work with them.

Thank you!

You cannot add shared parameters to any Key Schedule.

Rats.

My next thought - possibly recreate Schedule #1  as as regular schedule? Would it be able to assign occupancy types, etc like the original does?

You could group similar Rooms into one row and enter the information for them.  It is still not at robust at using the Key schedule, where you just assign a Key and the entire list of parameters change accordingly.

It depends on your priority.  If you have large quantity of information need to be standardized then I would stick with using a Key schedule, especially for the maintenance of information in the long run.   If you only have a few and they need to be on a Tag then the other way around.

This schedule was formulated from the point of view of Commercial / Higher Ed occupancy - so I do not think that dumbing it down would be an option.

What a mess. It was a good thought while it lasted......
