Scale linework in one direction only

Is it possible to scale detail linework (multiple lines selected) in one direction only? in other word, in the vertical direction only, but the horizontal remains the same width.

So basically you want to stretch (not scale) multiple lines.  Why not use the Trim/Extend Multiple Elements tool?

I have an image I am painting the final surface with and there is some geometry within the linework that I'd rather simply stretch to match rather than redraw the linework.

It just looks like it's not possible due to the geometric constraints of Revit's detail lines using arcs.

Sounds like you need this information:

haha not quite. But I'm moving on... sometimes it's just quicker to muscle through the annoyance than search for hours for a solution that does not exist.

You could export to image file and then import image back into the Revit view and scale it horizontally/vertically with unlocked proportions.

What do you think? Am I over the target or way off?

It's more about the linework needing to be scaled in one direction. And it just looks like Revit doesn't offer stretching. Thanks for the effort though.

Huh?

You know, it might benefit you to just post your file here for us to examine.

Export it to CAD, make a block, change the block X or Y and keep the other = 1, import the block to a detail family to use in Revit.

eesh, this has so many applications other than images, it's silly that we don't have the 3 different dimensions of scaling. i use scale 1d to stretch curves and make them "sexier" in liue of standard circles. it means i don't have to do the math, and can just get on with it. rhino has it and it's fabulous. i use it there, and then import line work - kind of silly. good thing to request.

Boosting this post. Scaling in a single dimension is a command I use all the time for 2D and 3D elements in other modeling software like SketchUp and Rhino. Would be great to see the same capability in Revit someday.
