Rotating New Hatch

I have a custom model Hatch that is horizontal.

I would like to make it, or a new duplicate hatch vertical. Is this possible?

I can scale duplicated custom hatches but I can't seem to rotate them.

Is this just not possible ... ?

You can rotate a Model Hatch Pattern.  Just Tab-Select a Hatch element and use the Rotate Tool.

Yes, which means I have to rotate all my hatches individually. I'm looking to rotate the custom model hatch itself.

One that is based on a .pat file?

...If it's just Horizontal Line we're talking, you can create custom Hatch Pattern pretty effortlessly directly thru Revit.

You can modify the pat file, or using some add-on to regenerate/recreate the pattern.

Nice plugin. - Kind of annoying I can't even rotate the hatches though.  Basic.

Thanks for the shout out 🙂 @ToanDN

@jfjacques We are actually working on a tool that will allow you to rotate (unfortunately not done yet). You can manually do it in the meantime... (only super possible if its a simple pattern or you understand trig).

To rotate:

You will just need to adjust the first 1-3 values in the pattern (depending on where each line starts)

The first value is angle, second is x-origin, and then y-origin.

Looking at an example:

Here is a herringbone 1x12 board size:

This is created using our herringbone calculator (this specific calculator) has the ability to rotate the pattern...

1x12 with 0 rotate1x12 with 0 rotate

Then if we change the grid angle to -45...

1x12 -45 rotate1x12 -45 rotate

Notice how only the first 3 values of the "BLUE A" line changed. The "PINK B" line didn't have its origin change since it was already at 0,0. The other values for both lines (shift, offset, dash sequence) are all in reference to itself, so those wont change if you are just trying to rotate the pattern.

We should mention, we are about to be out of beta with a huge v1 update... we're launching in-web drawing trying to make this easier.

@jfjacques

Just chiming in to say we launched Pattycake version 01 and the rotate tool is live for everyone! ↪️↩️🎂🔃🔄

Rotate and scale are both available with a (completely free) Open Source account level.

Let us know if you think of any other features we should consider adding!

Cheers 🍰
