Rotating nested detail components around a central point with parameters

Hi, 

I'm currently trying to create a detail for a hinge around a post, however, i'm running into problems when trying to make the stop blocks rotate around the center of the post. I've followed the same steps one would for making something like a door rotate, but every time i try to change an angle parameter, the program tells me that constraints are not satisfied. Can anyone help with a solution, or tell me if i'm doing something wrong?

edit the nested hinge family and shift the elements within it away from the origin so that when you bring it into the host family you can place it at the hosts origin and it appears where you need it in the host.
