Rotate the entire project

I selected the whole project in the 3D view including hidden items as you suggested but the Create Group button is ghosted.

What is the circumstance that you need to physically rotate the entire model?  There are other approaches and some are much less painful.

The architects changed the project orientation without telling us and our referenced architectural model does not share coordinates with the architectural model. I ended up following the suggestion from someone below of using the following method:

Manage > Project Location > Position > Rotate Project North.

I still do not know what determines whether you can create a group or not. It would be nice if Revit gave you more feedback on why an option is ghosted. Thank you for your reply.

I think the problem lies in 3D elements vs. 2D elements?

it's unlikely the Architect has physically rotated their model within the project file, more likely it's just been moved in terms of it's shared coordinates.

As such there should be no need to rotate your model.  Instead it would be easier to open the architects model, reload your model here (if the link still exists - if not link it afresh) and then check your model is aligned correctly (if you have had to link afresh simply use the align tools to get it in the right place in plan and elevation).  One you are happy with that publish the coordinates back to your model and save it's position (you'll find this under the Manage Links dialogue).

You can now open your model again and link the arch model using shared coordinates. 

This is pretty basic stuff in terms of project coordination - I'd strongly suggest spending some time getting your head around how models can be aligned, how shared coordinates work and the importance of linking to the architects model at the start of the process using Origin to Origin.
