Roombook v1 for Revit 2023 - Your model is being upgraded

After calculating the room quantities using Roombook v1 for Revit 2023, and then going into View/Edit Results, each time I click on an element, there is a short pop-up message before the element is displayed in the Preview pane:

Model upgrade

Your model is being upgraded

From: Autodesk Revit 2018

To: Autodesk Revit 2023

This happens even if the next element I click on is the same type (eg. Basic Wall: Stud timber - 90) as the previous one.

My model is already a Revit 2023 model.

How can one stop this from happening?

I should add:

a. The "Your model is being upgraded" pop-up occurs for every item that is clicked on, even ones that have already been selected previously.

b. The pop-up continues to occur even after saving and reopening the model.

c. My software (RLT) and system (W11) are fully patched:

Revit LT 2023 (23.0.20.21, 20220726_1500(x64), 2023.0.2)

Window 11 (v22H2, Build 22621.755)

d. Installed Roombook Areabook Buildingbook v1 for Revit 2023 (23.0.10.18)

e. I created a brand new single room (four walls and a floor) using the built-in Metric template. The same issue occurs - always converting from 2018 to 2023. So it has nothing to do with my model but is an inherent problem.

I didn't know Roombook Extension would work in Revit LT.  Learn a new thing everyday.

What is the process for flagging this issue as a bug to the Revit Dev Team?

Hi Tomi,

Thank you for reporting this. I can imagine this is a big inconvenience for you. I've submitted a ticket to Autodesk Technical Support on your behalf so that they take a closer look into the issue. They'll have access to some additional tools that we don't have here in Support Communities.

Here are the steps to Contact Support:

1. Go to https://autodesk.com/gethelp and sign into your account 
2. Click the Post-purchase support box.
   
3. Select Help using my software
   .
   Note: For problems launching the product, or with the installation, activation, or licensing use the Install & Activate option.
4. Select your product from the drop-down menu, add a detailed description of your issue, then click the See Options button. 
    
5. You'll now see your subscription contact options. Click Schedule a Call to make an appointment to speak with an Autodesk technical support specialist. Click Create a case to send your question via email.
   

Finally, the Self-service options will indicate a snapshot of the most recent solutions from the  Knowledge Network, specific to the product selected.

You will receive a notification based on the company email you registered. Reply to the email and share as many details as you can. The support team will try to reproduce the issues for you and provide possible workarounds.

Hey Wendy, Thanks for letting me know the process and for raising a case for this issue. I have been contacted by the person who has been assigned the case and will work with them to see how this issue can be fixed. I'll report back once I know more.

Autodesk Support worked promptly with me to resolve this issue. The manual fix is below, but I have requested that the Revit Dev Team consider issuing an update to the app that installs content (families) that is already compatible with the Revit version it is intended for. 

This is the response I received from Autodesk Support:

In order to make these pop-ups go away I would suggest you update the files located in the below folder locations.

• C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2023\Libraries\US Imperial\Areabook Library
• C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2023\Libraries\US Imperial\Buildingbook Library
• C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2023\Libraries\US Imperial\Roombook Library

(I simply dragged and dropped the 70+ files in batches, let them upgrade, and then clicked Save, Close for each family.)

But before you can do this you need to do the following so you can save the files after they upgrade:

• Right-Click on US Imperial Folder: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2023\Libraries
• Click Properties.
• On the Security tab, select the User account.
• Edit Permissions and choose "Full Control".

Hey Tomi,

Thanks for sharing the update and the steps to suppress the pop-ups. 

I would recommend submitting your feedback to Revit Ideas as well, it is monitored by developers and product managers and is currently the most effective way to request a product enhancement.

As more users like an idea, its status can change from Gathering Support  to Under Review , which indicates that the Revit development team is reviewing the idea. If the idea is accepted for development, it will progress through the Accepted  and Implemented  stages. Whenever an idea’s status is changed, the person who originally posted the idea and all the members who upvote it, will be automatically notified. 🙂
