Room Label customization

Can someone good with labels, parametric and instance, help?

See attached.

For some reason I am unable to click into the question mark when inserting this customized label (when inserted into project) to manually enter the room size.

Also I'd like the Volume portion of the label to disappear when there is nothing to compute there (no ceiling at the moment). This "non-visibility" is happening the way I like for the ceiling height, why not for the volume?

@Alfredo_Medina

By the way, I would have never known about the "export" functionality of parameters, so thank you for that major clue. Not sure why that knowledge is kept so secret - it never came up in any of my quarries during this painful Revit learning experience.

@Alfredo_Medina, THANK YOU!!!!

That was it!! Problem solved! It is quite a process. If I understand it and can recap, missing or new parameters can be exported into the shared parameters text file. However that does not automatically load them into a project that is referencing that Shared Parameters.txt file, so you have to add it as you instruct at post #17. Correct me if I'm missing anything critical.

I am very thankful that generous people like you frequent this forum, so thank you. If Autodesk could improve here, it would be to have some sort of "sense" of issues like I went through in trouble shooting and suggest the appropriate action or set of possible solutions, as was done in this long post thread. If Facebook and hedgefunds can make complex and smart algorithms, why can't Autodesk? In other words, perhaps Revit version 2018 could sense that I needed to do as you instructed here, and make such a suggestion. It should be possible because Revit is so rigidly structured as a software.

Anyway, thank you once again @Alfredo_Medina, you deserve a raise, drink, whatever may please you.

I am saving this post string and the concise solutions therein to my office Revit users manual. Thanks again @Alfredo_Medina!

Haha.... 🙂  No problem... Maybe if one day we meet at one of those Revit conferences, I will ask for my beer. 🙂

And you saved the $185 that your re-seller was charging you. The reality is that re-sellers are in another business, the business of selling software and selling basic training. Most of the times they are unable to answer any difficult question that goes beyond the basics. But that is just the nature of each business. Only the people who have enough experience working on real Revit projects are aware of all the intricacies of this interesting software.

Gladly @Alfredo_Medina, I will buy you a nice dinner with that beer!

What conferences are worth attending? I have never attended one. It will probably be a year or so before it is in the cards, depending on cost.

The conferences that have more attendees are: Autodesk University, and Revit Technology Conference. Autodesk University is about all the Autodesk products, not just Revit. The Revit Technology Conference is mostly about Revit (and leading into all about Dynamo, recently).
