I can't get a ROOM's Base Offset to function. I get an error that says "Room's lower offset is above the Computation Height". The Level is set to the level of the floor plan view, which is the T.O. FOOTING level. The Upper Limit is set to the level above. I can change the Limit Offset, positive or negative, and it works just fine. The Base Offset does not work.
This is for a mechanical room in a small single family house. The LEVEL is set to describe the T.O. FOOTING, and the there's a 4" concrete slab that sits on the footing. So T.O. SLAB is 4" higher than the LEVEL. The interior walls sit on the slab, so they too are 4" higher than the LEVEL. The base of the exterior foundation walls is the T.O. FOOTING level. Since the interior walls are 4" higher than the level, the ROOMS bleeds out to the exterior foundation walls and all rooms overlap.
On Autodesk's Revit 2020 help pge, it describes the ability to offset the lower boundary using Base Offset: "Use the Base Offset parameter to indicate the distance between the base level and the lower boundary of the room. To use the base level as the lower boundary, enter 0 (zero). To move the lower boundary above the base level, enter a positive number. To move the lower boundary below the base level, enter a negative number."
Yes, I could change the level to be T.O. SLAB, and then change the exterior foundation walls to be -4", and that would solve the problem. But I'd like to first know if I'm doing something wrong or missing something again, or is this another episode of Revit Things That Should Not Be. Thanks! mpp
