What is the best practice for making the following roof soffit detail? Please see the reference image below:

Would you use only roof soffit and facia? You can see that the soffit / facia create kind of a box out at the end. I've been having difficulty creating this shape and have been making a mess with facia. Looking for some pointers. The image below is what I have so far.

UPDATE:

I've gotten really close, however, I am still unsure how to model facia going vertical. You can see that this is still the piece I am missing.

I usually model porkchops in-place.  FWIW.

Model the wall trim as an in-place sweep.

Thanks @ToanDN That will work.

@barthbradley I was thinking about using walls to model the feature. I would like to have the walls join together so that the connections are made at corners, but I would like the walls to not join to any other walls than themselves. Do you know how I can modify a wall so that it will not join any other walls besides itself?

Hard to visualize what you are describing, but disallow join is how you disable auto join. You can still join them individually by using Join Geometry tool.

Model the walls with Join Status = Disallow then manual Join Geometry them.

@ToanDN

How do I model in place sweep under an angled roof as in the picture below? I would like to add trim around the roof against the wall of this gas fireplace outlet. Is in place sweep only a horizontal / vertical tool?

Model in -place, Pick path, and pick the bottom lines of the roof and soffit.
