Whenever I try to add a roof to my house, it always shows up on the second floor, even when I set the base level to my roof. I horizontally split my walls so I could paint them different colors.
Roof error
The question is how do I move my roof so that the base level is at the roof. I know there's a property constraints box on the side by it's on roof and it's showing it's on the second floor. It says footprint error whenever I try to make the roof too. I think my problem is rooting from when I horizontally split my walls.
Splitting the walls is not the problem. If you want to draw the roof the the roof level then you need to be doing it in the Roof Level Floor Plan. Again, it is not that important, you can draw it at any level and change it to Roof after you done.
For the footprint error, you may want to clean up here:
- red side: only 1 line needed, not 4
- blue side: 1 not 2
If that still doesn't fix it, TAB on the footprint and share the screenshot.

...you know, it might also be that one or more of those lines has an odd slope. Are all the slopes the same?

Expand the error message to read further info about the specific errors. Revit may even be able highlight the specific areas where the sketch fails.
FWIW:
I looked and all the slopes are the same. It still shows the error even when I combines the lines at the top and left side.
Thank you for the video super helpful. So how do I now make it look like yours, like the bay area more symmetrical like yours.
I added a line and adjusted overhangs. There's no one solution here though. Play around with it until you are satisfied.
