Hey everyone. This is day 2 of trying to learn Revit. Following some tutorials and such and now when i go to load a family, find the object i want to load, and open it nothing seems to happen. Previously the object would show up to be placed by my cursor and the properties interface would change to that object, allow you to make changes to it and then place it. Now none of that happens. I can still select objects previously placed and edit them in the properties interface and Copy and paste objects. I hope this was clear and enough information for some answers. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Families, after being loaded, don't always automatically prompt you to place them. When you load a family, it goes into your Project Browser. Think of this as your project file's "storage": these items are not necessarily placed in your model, but they are ready and waiting for you to place them when the time comes that you need them. See the graphic below:
Click on the "Families" + button (red arrow points to this) to see all your loaded families. Everything in this part of the browser until you get to Groups is your collection of loaded families. Click into one of these categories to reveal the loaded families, then click on the plus button of a family to see the types available, then right-click on a type and select "Create Instance" to bring that element into your model.
Alternatively you can place instances of families using the various Component buttons on your ribbons (Architecture, Structure, Systems, etc.) and using the Properties palette (shown in the above image on the right side), use the drop-down box which appears after you click a Component button.
See this link for more info on the Project Browser:
i see that happen when loading a family in a category for the first time. i don't know why... 🙂 once you have families loaded just pick the option from the ribbon and use the type selector at the top of the properties window. Pick the family to use.
