has any 1 experienced the subject, where tutorial shows the following but the crossing window does not appear on my revit session?
revit tutorial lesson five: create edit delete room: at 5:52, the selection failed on my revit session, but is shown on tutorial video
tutorial failed to mention to combine shift key and right mouse 'select' button to perform the selection.
now i can perform the selection

You need to uncheck "Drag Elements on Selection" then it works fine without shift key...see image below and watch GIF
