Revit touchpad to zoom and pan on Surface Pro 3?

I've been running Revit 2016 on my Surface Pro 3, and everything works like a charm. However, I recently was working without a mouse, and realized the touchpad on the Type Cover does not work with things like 2-finger zoom or pan, making it pretty much useless to work in Revit without a mouse (somewhat typical with all laptops, I know, but still...) Has anyone else had this issue?

I updated to Windows 10, but still no luck. Strangely enough, I remoted into my work computer from my SP3, and the touchpad worked just fine to navigate my desktops Revit. Is there some setting in Revit that needs to be enabled, or would this be an issue to take up with Microsoft?

I Have exactly the same problem. I have a Dell XPS 15 and the touch pad won't zoom or pan. The cursor comes up with a small crosshair when you attempt to zoom. I can't find any solution to this on forums. Where you able to find a solution?

I got kicked between Microsoft and Autodesk for a while (I opened support cases with both sides), and each said it was the others issue. Essentially the final word I got was that Autodesk doesn't technically support the Surface lines (it considers them tablets, not laptops) and they couldn't offer any other information beyond that.

Seeing as how you're having the same issue on a "traditional" laptop shows the issue has nothing to do with Surfaces, in my mind. Unfortunately I've been unable to get any other useful information regarding the issue.

One concerned Autodesk user has already began to rally a bit of  support for your idea a couple of years ago...

Hello,

I have Revit 2019 on Surface Pro 6.

I would like Revit to work on my Surface Pro 6 on tablet basis without mouse.  One of the reasons I purchased the Surface Pro was to be able do drawings in the field.  and now not working as I imagined.  But I would like to do so on a tablet basis using fingers to pan and zoom.  and fingers or pen to draw walls, etc.  Right now I find it very very difficult to work  except with mouse.  not the end of the world but Revit is going to have to make itself more versatile in future versions.  already I look for another simple software for the field that I can import DWG to Revit when I get back to office, but would be better to just do in Revit all the way.

I too bought the Surface Pro 6 for this purpose. Specifically, I wanted to use Revit on the train during my morning commute (I can rarely get a seat with a table, let alone have enough room to use a mouse!).

So I'm sending the Surface Pro back.  It's amazing, I love it, but I can't justify the near £2k expense (with accessories, i7 model etc) on a device that doesn't do what I need it to.  also it doesn't run enscape - and that's really the killer here.

The ability to pan and zoom using your finger on the screen would have been perfect for the former problem.  I could run Enscape on the work PC when needed.  It's a real shame.

Instead, I'm going to stick with my old Laptop (bootcamped MacBook Pro), and use either this thing I bought cheap from amazon (which doesn't have a middle-click function so panning is requires the navigation wheel 😕  😞 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07H3T3N39/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Or I might splurge money on something like this: https://www.posturite.co.uk/penclic-mouse-b3-bluetooth.html#tab4

It's amazing to me that this ability has been omitted.  I hope you find a cure.

@Anonymous  that's interesting:) I can understand how this feels.

Do you have a support case number from us that I can look into?
